Scientific Methodology & Formula
The Body Mass Index (BMI) is an internationally recognized screening parameter for assessing body composition in adults, established by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Height-Adjusted BMI (Oxford University)
The traditional 1832 Quetelet formula divides weight by height squared, distorting results for tall and short individuals. The Oxford formula (1.3 × weight / height^2.5) accounts for realistic 3D human body scaling.
Waist-to-Height Ratio (WHtR)
A primary indicator of visceral belly fat. Your waist circumference should measure less than half your height (ratio below 0.50), indicating low cardiometabolic risk regardless of muscular build.
